How to log in to private server

Hey guys i'm sorry if this has been covered in other threads i simply could not find them. I've got the server running on a dual xeon quad core at my location. I want to log in to it through my other computer. Is there something i need to change (ip address wise) in a config file to point my desktop aion to the server i just created? I appreciate any help.
